Part of our Rarity Line: The Aida Batlle Selection from Finca Kilimanjaro
Finca Kilimanjaro is located in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range in western El Salvador, at altitudes between 1,580 and 1,720 meters. The farm is part of the Aida Batlle Selection and is one of the formative projects in the history of international specialty coffee. Aida Batlle is considered one of the most important figures in the modern coffee world. As a producer and pioneer, she repositioned El Salvador when the country was barely perceived internationally as a quality origin. Her approach was uncompromising: focus on varietal, precise processes, consistent selection, and long-term quality.
A turning point was winning first place at the first Cup of Excellence El Salvador in 2003. This success marked the beginning of international recognition for Salvadoran coffees. For Andraschko, Finca Kilimanjaro is a true farm-to-cup project. We regularly visit the farm and the mill and personally select the lots.
As part of our Rarity Line, we roast this espresso as a medium roast. The goal is a structured, stable espresso with depth and controlled sweetness.
This coffee from the 2025 harvest was picked and processed with the utmost care. Under Aida's supervision, only ripe coffee cherries were hand-picked and sorted on the farm to ensure the highest quality. The coffee was then transported to the J. Hill / Las Tres Puertas mill in Santa Ana, about an hour and a half away. There, it dried in thin layers on African drying beds in the shade to achieve an even result. The result is an exceptional filter coffee with notes of cocoa nibs, lavender, and red berries. In the cup, it displays a creamy mouthfeel, pronounced sweetness, and a long, pleasant aftertaste.
