Aida Batlle and her family first appeared on the specialty coffee scene in 2003. In her first year as a coffee farmer, Aida became the first woman ever to be awarded the coveted "Cup of Excellence" title.
Finca Kilimanjaro in Santa Ana, El Salvador, is home to some of the finest coffee plants in the world. High-quality Kenyan varieties such as SL28 and SL34 - known for their distinct fruity notes - grow here among tall Bourbon trees that were once brought to the region by Aida's great-great-grandfather.
This 2025 harvest coffee was harvested and processed with the utmost care. Under Aida's supervision, only ripe coffee cherries were hand-picked and sorted on the farm to ensure the highest quality. The coffee was then taken to the J. Hill / Las Tres Puertas mill in Santa Ana, about an hour and a half away. There, it was dried in thin layers on African drying beds in the shade to achieve an even result.
The result is an exceptional filter coffee with notes of cocoa nibs, lavender, and red berries. In the cup, it displays a creamy mouthfeel, a pronounced sweetness, and a long, pleasant aftertaste.
